TREKKING AND RAFTING IN PAI

Daily departure from Chiang Mai, minimum 2 persons

2 days trekking and 2 days on a rubber raft through the wilderness of Mae Hong Sorn province are the highlights of this guided tour. Accommodation in guest houses, huts of the hill tribes, river camp and at the end a very nice resort. A tour for nature lovers.

Day 1 Chiang Mai - Pai

In the morning transfer from Chiang Mai to Pai, a winding road through wonderful mountain scenery.
Some side trips can be arranged, for example to hot springs and a waterfall, where you can take a bath
as well. Arrive Pai in the afternoon. Time left to explore the surroundings by your own. Mountain bikes
can be rented for that. Overnight at a guest house.

Day 2 Pai - Trekking

After breakfast leave by pick-up truck to the Lisu village of Ban Nam Rin and start walking up to a Karen village, specialized in the hand weaving of traditional colourful clothing. Basket lunch. Then walk further up to a tiny Lahu village. Take a shower at the waterfall and have dinner. Spend the night in the traditional Lahu house (bamboo floor, thatched roof).

Day 3 Trekking - Ban Soppong

Take a filling Thai breakfast, then leave our Lahu friends to walk towards aanother Karen village. Go on and walk up and down along some nice mountain wilderness. Lunch at a village on route. Then walk down to Soppong, the main Thai village in the area. Overnight at a simple, but clean guest house.

Day 4 Ban Soppong - River Camp

Transfer to Nam Khong river by pick-up truck. Briefing about navigation and security. Start rafting. Stop at the Suza waterfalls. Arrival at the camp site late afternoon. Time for swimming and relaxing near the camp. Dinner and overnight at the river camp in bamboo huts under mosquito nets.

Day 5 River Camp - Mae Hong Sorn

After breakfast start rafting. Stop at the hot springs. Row through the Hin Mong rapids and gorges. Early afternoon arrive in Mae Hong Sorn. Transfer to a nice resort with swimming pool on the banks of the Pai River and next to a Shan village. Overnight at the resort.

Day 6 Mae Hong Sorn - Chiang Mai

Relax at the peaceful countryside resort or take an optional trip to a Paduang "longneck" village. There
is also time left to explore the small town of Mae Hong Sorn by your own. Early afternoon take a short
flight back to Chiang Mai, from where you can continue your journey.

Note:

During February to June (due of low water level) rafting is not possible. Itinerary during that time will be changed and replaced with other activities (short bamboo rafting, elephant safari etc.).
