DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - DOI INTHANON - MAE SAPOK
Pick up from the hotel, airport or railway station. Leave Chiang Mai in southern direction for Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand's highest peak, 2565 m). Enjoy nice mountain sceneries from the 2 royal pagodas on the peak and see some picturesque waterfalls on route. There are opportunities for short walks as well. Go on down the valley, passing Karen- and Hmong hill tribe villages. Late afternoon arrive in Mae Sapok. Overnight at the simple, but clean lodge over- looking the valley.
DAY 2 MAE SAPOK
Today you get in touch with the friendly giants. First introduction into the life and behaviour of elephants, as well as learning commands. Then first ride the elephant in a basket, practice the commands, learn to saddle and ride the gentle giant on his neck.Finally do a side trip to a remote Karen hill tribe village, a small waterfall and a royal farming project. Overnight at the lodge in the green- and tranquil valley.
DAY 3 MAE SAPOK
In the morning you and the mahout will get the elephant out of the forest. Ensure the learned commands and ride the elephant on his neck. Learn to work with wood and then ride to the river, where you will bath the elephant. Late afternoon bring the elephant back to the forest. Spend another night at the lodge in Mae Sapok.
DAY 4 MAE SAPOK - CHIANG MAI
First get the elephant out of the forest again, then bath it in the river. Afterwards putting the saddle and ride the elephant on his neck for another time. Finally the mahouts will show you how to pilling up tree stalks. In the afternoon enjoy a lazy trip down the river on a bamboo raft. Then drive back to Chiang Mai. Transfer to the hotel, airport or railway station, depends on your further schedule.

For people who want to learn and get in touch even more with elephants, there is a 8-days package available as well. More information on request. Also it is possible to skip the 1st day of the package (trip to Doi Inthanon National Park).
